Celebrate World Umbrella Day 2024

Duldig Studio, 92 Burke Rd, Malvern East

Celebrate the invention of the amazing foldable umbrella at our World Umbrella Day event. There will be free themed activities for the whole family, an umbrella parade with prizes, and light refreshments all in the beautiful surrounds of our sculpture garden.

Prepare for the parade!
Decorate an umbrella you already have, or purchase a white umbrella from us to decorate at home. Or you can simply bring your favorite umbrella from home to join in the parade. You can even dress up to match your brolly!

Slawa Horowitz-Duldig invented the modern foldable umbrella in Vienna in 1929. It was manufactured in Austria and Germany and marketed throughout Europe. After the Duldig family fled Austria in 1938 she was forced to sell all her patent rights.

Adult Drawing Workshops: Portraiture and Figure Drawing – 5 sessions 

Tuesday 27 February, 5 March, 12 March, 19 March, 26 March, 10:00AM – 1:00PM

Now in their second year these enjoyable and social drawing classes build skills and confidence in drawing and painting. Led by artist Helene Oberman the classes are suitable for beginners and those already confident in their skills.

Over a period of 5 classes Helen will focus on portraiture and figure drawing and painting with reference to our latest exhibition Drawn from the Collection. There will be an opportunity to draw from live models.

Each session includes coffee, plum cake and Duldig hospitality.

These sessions can be experienced as individual sessions or as a series.

Prices range from $50 – $60 per session – with early bird discounts!

Unlock your creativity in an Adult Clay Workshop

10 March 1:00 – 4:00PM

Facilitated by our sculptor-in-residence, Stefan Damschke, this class lets you roll up your sleeves and engage with Duldig Studio in a new way, by getting hands-on experience while learning about sculpture from a creative practitioner. Let your creativity flow as you master how to model and shape your clay into unique pieces to take home.
– No experience necessary – suitable for all abilities.
– All materials provided including clay and sculpting tools.
– Cost of workshop includes firing and light refreshments.

The museum is open two days each week (Tuesdays & Thursdays, 1pm – 4pm). We also open on the second Sunday of each month (1pm – 4pm).
Our volunteers lead a guided tour at 1.30pm on these days.

We also run customised group tours with Viennese afternoon or morning tea by appointment for groups of more than six.
